Tattoo commission: Swirly Tree

Trees are everywhere!
I just completed a tattoo commission for the lovely Mariana, from Rio De Janeiro. She was looking for a tree with clear swirly lines (and not a fully colored body) and some bright dangling elements. We agreed on stars, skulls and hearts… and I’m very happy with the final result.
Pencil steps and the finished picture.
Enjoy.

A tree to remember: wall!

Becky from the UK is one of my favorite collectors. A while ago, I designed a tattoo for her, a tree that ended up on her calf… and is now swirling up on one of her walls! Congrats to the crafty painter and many thanks to Becky for sharing the picture :)

Lucilla, happy tentacles and the Ostrich Fairy

Alphac just sent me a pic of his framed collection… and I really love the result. Rufus and dark ladies aren’t usually framed together – or even purchased together! – and it’s a pleasant surprise to see them getting along so well. Thanks for sharing :)

And while I’m at it, here’s the link to my quasi-brand-new Etsy shop, featuring a selection of my best illustrations and yummy stuff I never posted over here on the gallery. Enjoy > it’s a tough world for fat monsters.

Tattoo commission: Robert Smith and the skull tree

The third – and last – tattoo commission I completed for the lovely Heather from California. Robert Smith and his pet-ghosts under a swirly skull-tree.

Tattoo commission: Vampire Ankh

I loved ancient Egypt when I was really tiny. And being really tiny happened more or less twenty years ago, so no surprise I didn’t remember what an Ankh was when Heather asked me to design a tattoo for her. And not even a plain and simple good old Ankh, a vampire one, surrounded by cobwebs and ghosts.
It took me forever to decide how to do it, we trashed the first sketch because it was too “clean” and here’s what we came up with. Heather is happy and so are all the undead Pharaohs of the world.
:)

Tattoo commission: Home is where the fluffies are

Tattoo designs are always challenging, especially when they’re supposed to represent memories or something that’s more or less grounded into the real world. This is the first tattoo commission from a series of three that has kept me busy for a while now: all the ghost kitties haunt a nice house in California. And yes, there’s color.

Tattoo commission: Good Times

A brand-new version of my Good Times illustration, for a lovely lady in Brazil who’s getting it tattooed soon. Pencils and ink.

I’m also having fun with three quite complicated tattoo commissions. Ghost kitties, Robert Smith, cobwebs and bats… there is a lot going on. Here’s a snapshot of what I’m working on.

Monsters at Lupo Rosso

Lupo Rosso is a brand-new fantasy bookstore based in Turin. The adorable owners set up an amazing space, with a great selection of titles and all kinds of spooky merchandising. Before the opening, they contacted me for a monster-corner and now my illustrations are for sale in the real world as well.
Here’s the first series of drawings I put together for Lupo Rosso:

A quick list of reminders, while I’m at it.

- a selection of my best illustrations is now on sale on ETSY. You can visit the shop here > it’s a tough world for fat monsters

-  if you’re planning a custom Christmas gift, I’m starting to accept holiday commissions… and being organized it’s always a good idea. So, if you have something in mind, drop me a line and we’ll discuss it.

- Christmas, point two. If you’re planning to order a Christmas gift, international orders ship in a week-10 days, but mail gets clogged up near the holidays (sadly), so keep it in mind when requesting an illustration (both here on the gallery or on the ETSY store).

Zombie Geisha… inked!

Back in October I spent some time working on a new version of my Zombie Geisha dark-lady… and today, Kristy was kind enough to send me a picture of the finished tattoo. And wow, it’s really cool. I especially love the hair, the linework was beautifully captured and the shading is awesome.
Good project, lots of fun and great outcome :) Thanks Kristy, enjoy your Geisha!
…BRAAAAAAINS… and tofu!

Monsters on ETSY!

Starting from today, Rufus and all his tiny friends will fly on Etsy!
It will still be possible to submit purchase inquiries and commission requests from this gallery (by writing here) and I’ll keep on posting news about my work, but lots of stuff is going to be featured in my brand new Etsy shop as well. Hopefully, Etsy will showcase a selection of my best illustrations and the available items will be updated daily, as I go though my archive and choose what to post.
It’s going to be a lot of work, but I’m very excited for this new project… and I hope you’ll start following me up there as well, with the same adorable warmth and kindness.
